UVgami is a new free and open source tool for automatic UV unwrapping, according to GameFromScratch. It comes as a desktop application for Windows, Mac and Linux, as a Blender version, and as a browser-based web app.

The web app accepts OBJ, GLB, GLTF, FBX, STL and .blend files. You load a model, let the tool generate a UV map, and download the result. The tool implements several unwrapping algorithms, and its engines are built on OptCuts by Minchen Li et al. and xatlas by Jonathan Young.

The web app runs entirely in your own browser, and its description says models are never uploaded to a server. That may matter if you work with assets you cannot send to third-party services.

The sources do not cover output quality, performance or how the results compare with manual unwrapping or with Blender's built-in tools. If you want to try it, the homepage, GitHub repository and web app are linked from the GameFromScratch article, which also includes a video of the desktop and Blender versions in use. Check results on your own meshes before relying on it in a pipeline.
