Unreal Engine 5.8: new features reportedly only for Movie Render Graph, not MRQ
A community post says Epic has stopped adding features to Movie Render Queue as of Unreal Engine 5.8, and that new work will go to Movie Render Graph only. The claim is unverified here, but teams that render with MRQ should check their pipelines.

A post on r/unrealengine, dated 2026-10-20, says Epic announced with Unreal Engine 5.8 that it will no longer update Movie Render Queue. According to the post, new features will now be added only to Movie Render Graph.
The source is a community post, not an Epic announcement or release notes, and we have not seen Epic's wording. Treat the claim as reported until you have checked Epic's documentation for 5.8.
The poster says Movie Render Graph ships with a built-in "Basic" graph, but that graph does not expose all the MRQ features some users need. That gap matters for anyone moving existing MRQ setups across.
To fill it, the poster took the Basic graph and extended it with some of the rendering parameters they use most often. They also added support for DLSS renders. The post links to details on that work and on their Movie Render Graph. We have not tested it, and the post does not say how it is distributed or licensed.
If your pipeline depends on MRQ, check the 5.8 release notes and documentation for what Epic says about its status. Then compare your required settings against the Basic graph to see what you would need to rebuild in a custom graph.
