Unity has reportedly held talks about being acquired by a consortium of investors that includes Silver Lake and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. 80 Level cites a Reuters report that relies on people familiar with the matter.

The consortium reportedly discussed buying Unity for $25 billion. Reuters says no deal has been made, and that Unity has been working with an investment bank to evaluate its options.

The talks come months after Silver Lake, Affinity Partners and PIF bought Electronic Arts for $55 billion. 80 Level notes that EA shut down BioWare soon after that purchase.

Unity has just released its Q3 financial report. It said its strategic revenue grew 59% year over year and that it had its first GAAP profitable quarter since its IPO. 80 Level suggests the price could rise as a result.

80 Level also says a quick run of acquisitions of major companies by these investors could draw the attention of antitrust organizations if the deal goes through.
