Godot 4.7 shipped as a stable release on June 19, 2026. Its highlights page leads with AreaLight3D, a new node for rectangular light sources, so soft panel lighting no longer has to be faked with clusters of point or spot lights.
HDR output support arrives in this release, along with inline previews of text-based shader operations, an offset transform for Control nodes and easier drawing on textures.
The editor's Asset Library is replaced by a new Asset Store, and the Android editor can now be used to create games entirely on Android.
Godot 4.7.2 followed as a maintenance release on August 18, 2026. The Godot team describes maintenance releases as compatible with previous 4.7 releases and recommended for adoption.
